All new, incoming, non-professional program students are assigned to a Student Experience Manager. Student Experience Managers will work to ensure that students spend time at AHU in the most productive and positive way possible. Managers provide students with practical information about AHU’s policies and procedures, professional programs, core requirements, GPA requirements, course selection, and the process of registration. Academic advisors work with students on an individual basis to help clarify their life and career goals, create a realistic educational plan based on their goals, and help students understand degree requirements for their program of interest. Experience managers will also help students learn of resources available to them (such as tutoring and counseling).
Student Academic Support Services (SASS) helps students strengthen their academic skills by offering resources to help them achieve success in college and in their personal life. One-on-one meetings with SASS staff helps students’ enhance academic success by self-assessment, study skills development, and other resources including learning styles, specific study skill techniques, time management plan, test taking strategies, and managing test anxiety. Student Academic Support Services also provides free individual and group tutoring sessions through the University Tutoring Center and Nursing Tutoring Center. Tutoring is available for all students at AHU. The Nursing Tutoring Center is designed for students enrolled in the Nursing program. The Tutoring Centers offer face-to-face and virtual tutoring sessions, in order to better accommodate students who are not able to physically attend on-campus sessions.

Knowing the busy life of our AHU students, events often include free food such as Weekly Prayer Breakfasts, Campus food truck events, Spring Picnic (a school wide departmental competition), holiday meals, and Student Town Halls. Having food at events saves the students time and money while providing a small amount of “relax time” to socialize with the university community (students, faculty, and staff), which they may not interface with on a regular basis. Most AHU students are local and live at home, however we have apartments for approximately 150 students, activities at housing range from Karaoke nights, week-end group activities, gym nights, and several Housing only food events.
