Advising

The University of Central Florida students have many avenues to pursue academic advising, mentoring, and coaching. Each college has a central advising office with professional advisors and faculty advisors in schools and departments. This model allows advisors to specialize in their major, program, or area of expertise, leading to better guidance on schedule planning, academic support, and career preparation while positioning students for timely graduation. Students with declared majors are assigned to a college advising office. Undeclared students or those exploring majors are assigned to work with an advisor in the Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center. Success coaches are available to transfer students. Supplemental advising offices support specific student populations, in conjunction with their advising office assignments. Mentoring services also enhance the student experience and are provided by faculty, professional staff, and student peers. Peer academic coaches are assigned to new incoming students to provide academic support.

Non-Traditional Student

The University of Central Florida (UCF) provides non-traditional students with learning resources and support services. Professional advisors, professional coaches, staff, faculty, peer academic coaches, and peer mentors provide support and guidance to acclimate to a four-year university. They work with them before, during, and post orientation. To supplement advising, UCF offers outreach programming, workshops, tutoring, supplemental instruction, clubs, and organizations. The university ensures that students understand the resources available through websites, emails, text messaging, and virtual opportunities. Colleges and departments also support non-traditional students by providing mentoring, coaching, and academic advising delivered by professional staff, faculty, and students.
