Chipola College is the third oldest and the third smallest college in the Florida College System. Established in 1947, Chipola offers more than 40 programs and awards four types of diplomas: Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor of Science, and Workforce Certificates.
Chipola was among the first Florida community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees; offering B.S. degrees in Education, Business and Nursing.
Chipola has earned seven consective nominations for the Aspen prize which recognizes the top 10% of the nation’s community colleges.
BestColleges.com ranked Chipola number three on its list of the Best Online Colleges with Open Admissions in the US and number nine on the Top 10 Colleges in Florida.

Chipola has an Open Door Admissions Policy which provides educational opportunities to all students 18 years of age or older or high school or GED graduates who are interested in participating in the degree programs, courses, and services offered by the college. Admission to the college does not imply admission to any particular program or course.
The college charges a processing fee of $12.00 per semester at the time of registration. The fee includes application and ID fees. The fee is non-refundable.

Distance Learning (as of 2025)
In addition to achieving a general AA degree online, the RN to BSN upper level degree is fully online. The upper level BSBA - Management concentration courses are also offered online.

Chipola College does not charge a distance learning fee.
The purpose of Chipola College Distance Learning is to provide accessible, affordable, quality educational opportunities through the use of technology. The college is committed to providing high quality course offerings to students who cannot regularly attend campus classes and complete coursework by traditional methods. However, students enrolled in these courses may be required to take exams on campus or use Honorlock online test monitoring. Students taking a Distance Learning class must meet the placement testing & admissions requirements of the college. All college policies and deadlines apply. Coursework should be completed during the term it begins. Students must register during the registration dates listed in the college calendar.

A number of student organizations compete at the state and national levels, including Chipola Brain Bowl, FBLA Collegiate, Future Educators and Skill USA.
The Chipola Brain Bowl team holds five National Championships, 13 FCSAA State Championships, and five FCSAA student Hall of Fame inductees. Coach Stan Young has been named FCSAA Coach of the Year three times.
On-campus housing is available, but only for athletes and certain scholarship students.

Chipola College hosts a number of intercollegiate athletic programs including men's and women's basketball, men's baseball, women's softball and women's cross-country.
The College also provides a variety of opportunities for students to participate in individual and team sports through its intramural programs.
