FGCU offers a wide array of scholarships for prospective and returning students. FGCU scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and other criteria. Incoming freshman wishing to be considered for an admission's merit scholarship must apply by November 1 and complete their application by November 15. All freshman students applying to the university prior to November 15th will automatically be considered for merit scholarships. All transfer students applying to the university prior to the deadline for scholarship consideration (Fall: April 1; Spring: October 1) are automatically considered for merit scholarships.

Freshmen are considered for Early Action if they apply by November 1 and complete their application by November 15. Applications received by March 1 will be evaluated as Regular Decision on a rolling basis.

Once students are admitted, a "next steps" list is provided, giving them the steps for submitting their admissions deposit, registering for orientation, applying for housing, and more. Both first time in college and transfer students must register for and attend an orientation session.

Students are encouraged to register for the earliest possible orientation date to ensure the best variety and options for class selection.

The online Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs schedule courses to allow students to proceed through the programs in a timely manner. Florida Gulf Coast University has won 114 conference championships since moving to Division I as of July 1, 2026, including 33 since 2020. FGCU has made 64 appearances at NCAA Championships since the Intercollegiate Athletics program launched in 2000. They received the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Bill Bibb Trophy in 2024-25 for the best overall athletic program and the Sherman Day Trophy for the top women’s athletic program in 2024-25 and 2025-26. The women’s basketball team ended 2025-26 as the most successful in NCAA history by winning percentage (.833). Volleyball has won four straight Atlantic Sun titles and appeared in four NCAA Tournaments, with a total of 14 championships. The women’s soccer team has 19 ASUN titles and eight NCAA Tournament appearances. The baseball team has secured eight ASUN Championships. Evan Dempsey from Tampa won the John Olerud Award in 2025 and 2026. The women's tennis team finished 2025-26 nationally ranked.
