FGCU offers a wide array of scholarships for prospective and returning students. FGCU scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and other criteria. Incoming freshman wishing to be considered for an admission's merit scholarship must apply by November 1 and complete their application by November 15. All freshman students applying to the university prior to November 15th will automatically be considered for merit scholarships. All transfer students applying to the university prior to the deadline for scholarship consideration (Fall: April 1; Spring: October 1) are automatically considered for merit scholarships.

Transfer, second bachelor’s, and non-degree applications are continuously evaluated on a rolling basis.
Once students are admitted, a "next steps" list is provided, giving them the steps for submitting their admissions deposit, registering for orientation, applying for housing, and more. Both first time in college and transfer students must register for and attend an orientation session.
Students are encouraged to register for the earliest possible orientation date to ensure the best variety and options for class selection.

FGCU participates in The NCAA Division I Atlantic Sun Conference, the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (Swimming and Diving) and is fully eligible for national championships and awards.

FGCU has won 110 conference championships since moving to Division I.
FGCU has made over 55 appearances at NCAA Championships since moving to Division I
The Eagles won the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Bill Bibb Trophy in 2024-25, which goes to the member institution with the best overall athletic program. FGCU also won the Sherman Day Trophy, presented to the best overall women’s athletic program in the ASUN.
FGCU’s women’s basketball program ended the 2024-25 season as the winningest women’s basketball program in relation to winning percentage in NCAA history (.848).
FGCU volleyball has won four consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference championships, equating to four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. The team has won 13 conference championships in program history.
FGCU’s women’s soccer team won back-to-back ASUN Tournament championships in 2022 and 2023. In 2024, the Eagles won the ASUN regular season title.
FGCU’s baseball team were Atlantic Sun Conference champions in 2025.
