All new Indian River State College degree-seeking and Dual Enrollment students are assigned an advisor upon completion of admission to the College.
Academic advisors help new students successfully transition into college. They help you identify and refine your academic and career goals; recommend academic and college resources; answer questions about your degree; encourage you to build relationships with peers, staff and faculty; and serve as an important source of support all the way to graduation.
During your first term at The River your assigned advisor will help you develop an Academic Plan —a customized road map of all courses required for your degree or certificate program—that will be utilized for class selection throughout your enrollment with Indian River State College.

The River's teams include Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Men's Swimming & Diving and Women't Swimming & Diving. There are a number of former baseball Pioneers currently playing with professional baseball clubs, including Cory Spangenberg, Nick Snyder, and Travis Perry. Additionally, the Swimming and Diving Teams hold one of the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streaks with 51 consecutive Men's swim titles and 42 consecutive Women's swim titles (47 overall women's titles).
