All new Indian River State College degree-seeking and Dual Enrollment students are assigned an advisor upon completion of admission to the College.
IRSC advisors help new students successfully transition into college. They will help you identify your learning style, academic strengths and career interests; recommend academic and campus resources; answer questions about your degree; encourage you to build relationships with peers, staff and faculty; and serve as an important source of support all the way to graduation. Advisors makes sure all new students—first-time students, those returning to college, Dual-Enrollment students, and international students—get the best possible start.
During your first term at IRSC, your assigned advisor will help you develop a Guided Pathway/Academic Plan—a customized road map of all courses required for your degree or certificate program—that will be utilized for class selection throughout your enrollment with IRSC.

The Student Engagement & Leadership department strives to cultivate a campus community where students can achieve success and become socially responsible citizens. Our purpose is to support the College’s mission by providing services and programs while fostering student learning in and out of the classroom. Student Engagement provides assistance to individual students and student organizations in the planning, management, and evaluation of programs and organizational activities directed toward meeting the wide variety of students' needs and interests represented on campus.
Student Engagement is a resource for social, recreational, multi-cultural, and leadership activities that are designed to enhance a student’s education.
Sports
IRSC athletic teams, The Pioneers, compete in the Southern Conference of the Florida State College Activities Association, a body of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8.

Teams include Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and Swimming & Diving. There are a number of former baseball Pioneers currently playing with professional baseball clubs, including Cory Spangenberg, Nick Snyder, and Travis Perry. Additionally, the Swimming and Diving Teams hold one of the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streaks with 50 consecutive Men's swim titles and 42 consecutive Women's swim titles (46 overall women's titles).
