The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 64.5%. IRSC has a total undergraduate enrollment of 22,082 with a gender distribution of 40.1% male students and 59.9% female students. IRSC has racially and ethnically diverse student body, with residents of four Treasure Coast counties (St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee) making up a majority of enrollees.

There is a $20.00 application fee for IRSC applications for A.A., A.S., Career Training, Dual Enrollment, Associate Level Professional Development/Non-Degree, Technical Certificates, and Adult Education (ESOL & GED) programs.  

There is a $30.00 application fee for IRSC Bachelor's Degree programs.

IRSC provides top quality educational opportunities at an affordable cost by helping students get financial aid and scholarships and avoid student loans. Tuition and fees at IRSC are 40-50% less than Florida public universities and 80-90% less than private career institutes and colleges.

Indian River State College students have great transfer opportunities. Transfer agreements to a college or university help ensure that you won’t need to retake successfully completed courses or earn additional credits to enter as a junior, unless you change your major or degree program.

IRSC has partnered with several institutions for specific Associate or Baccalaureate Degree majors to transfer into public and private universities. Review the IRSC to university agreements to understand the requirements—such as specific courses that you must complete successfully while at IRSC and transfer student benefits—which may include waived fees and tuition reductions.

The Student Engagement & Leadership department strives to cultivate a campus community where students can achieve success and become socially responsible citizens. Our purpose is to support the College’s mission by providing services and programs while fostering student learning in and out of the classroom. Student Engagement provides assistance to individual students and student organizations in the planning, management, and evaluation of programs and organizational activities directed toward meeting the wide variety of students' needs and interests represented on campus.

Student Engagement is a resource for social, recreational, multi-cultural, and leadership activities that are designed to enhance a student’s education. 

Teams include Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and Swimming & Diving. There are a number of former baseball Pioneers currently playing with professional baseball clubs, including Cory Spangenberg, Nick Snyder, and Travis Perry. Additionally, the Swimming and Diving Teams hold one of the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streaks with 50 consecutive Men's swim titles and 42 consecutive Women's swim titles (46 overall women's titles).
