The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 56.8%. The River has a total undergraduate enrollment of 24,238 with a gender distribution of 39.6% male students and 60.4% female students. The College has racially and ethnically diverse student body, with residents of four Treasure Coast counties (St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee) making up a majority of enrollees.

There is a $20.00 application fee for IRSC applications for A.A., A.S., Career Training, Dual Enrollment, Associate Level Professional Development/Non-Degree, Technical Certificates, and Adult Education (ESOL & GED) programs.  

There is a $30.00 application fee for IRSC Bachelor's Degree programs.

Please note that some programs may have additional application fees. In addition, certain courses may have lab, testing, insurance, and distance learning fees that are not included in the base tuition rates.

Indian River State College and the Indian River State College Foundation offer numerous scholarship opportunities to help students achieve their educational goals while minimizing student debt. Scholarships are awarded through a variety of programs funded by generous donors, community partners, and institutional resources, and do not require repayment.

Indian River State College students have great transfer opportunities. Transfer agreements to a college or university help ensure that you won’t need to retake successfully completed courses or earn additional credits to enter as a junior, unless you change your major or degree program.

The River has partnered with several institutions for specific Associate or Baccalaureate Degree majors to transfer into public and private universities. The River offers more than 100 programs leading to Bachelor's Degrees, Associate Degrees, Technical Certificates, and Applied Technology Diplomas, as well as Career Training programs. Students graduate job-ready and opportunities such as internships, capstone projects and service learning complement their academic study. 

IRSC offers 18 Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Applied Science degrees: Accounting, Biology, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Digital Media (Graphic Design and Visual Communication, and Animation Gaming and Modeling), Education (Elementary Education, ESE), Human Services (Human Services Generalist, Youth and Family Studies, Addictions Studies, Education), IT Management/Cyber Security, Nursing, Public Administration Emergency Planning and Management, Public Administration Public Policy/Leadership, Organizational Management, and Health Care Management. The River's teams include Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Men's Swimming & Diving and Women't Swimming & Diving. There are a number of former baseball Pioneers currently playing with professional baseball clubs, including Cory Spangenberg, Nick Snyder, and Travis Perry. Additionally, the Swimming and Diving Teams hold one of the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streaks with 51 consecutive Men's swim titles and 42 consecutive Women's swim titles (47 overall women's titles).
