Admissions Policy
At times, students may transfer credit from other post secondary colleges and also make internal transfers.
The application process is a follows:
- Prospective students obtain an application from the receptionist. Once the application is completed, the student is scheduled to see a counselor.
- The student meets with a guidance counselor, who assists him/her with determining an appropriate program, give specific information on basic skills testing requirements. Students who may require assistance with paying their tuition are provided with information about securing financial assistance directly from the federal government or local agencies.
- A student wishing to apply for financial aid is scheduled to see a financial aid officer, who will provide specific instructions for eligible students.
The college offers career programs that are on an open enrollment status.

Students are given oportunity at MLEC & TC with a highly skilled counselor in our student services department. There they are told about Career Technical Education Programs offered at Miami Lakes Educaitonal Center and Technical College. They explore what is required to earn a certificate or license that is aligned with a job in the workforce. These programs are nationally accredited. Tuition in the form of scholarships, Federal Financial aid and Veterans’ Educational Benefits are available to those who qualify, allowing students to graduate debt free.
The College's strategy begins with intentional recruitment and outreach efforts that encourage students to explore career pathways based on their interests, abilities, and career goals rather than traditional gender roles. Recruitment materials, career fairs, open houses, orientation sessions, and counseling services intentionally highlight successful non-traditional students and professionals while promoting equal access to all Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Upon enrollment, students receive individualized academic and career advising through the Counseling Department. Academic advisors assist students with program selection, educational planning, registration, financial aid referrals, career exploration, and identification of potential barriers to success. Advisors maintain regular communication with students throughout their enrollment to monitor academic progress, attendance, and persistence. Students identified as academically or personally at risk are referred to appropriate intervention services.

MLEC&TC encompasses a fully accredited technical college by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education offering a wide variety of programs including practical nursing, medical assisting, patient care technician, cosmetology, culinary arts, heavy equipment operations, A/C & refrigeration, major appliance repair, truck driving, diesel mechanics, electronics technology, automotive, and more.
Programs vary in length from two to six trimesters and leads to industry certifications. Various forms of federal, state, and local financial aid are available to those who qualify.
